The LAUSD goal is for all students to maintain a Proficient/Advanced attendance rate of 96% or higher throughout the entire school year.  This means having no more than 7 total absences during the school year.

Every student is expected to attend school on a daily basis, unless there is valid justification for his/her absence (EC 48260).

According to the California Education Code, students may be excused from school when the absence is due to: 

• Illness
• Quarantine 
• Medical, dental, optometric or chiropractic services
• Attending the funeral of an immediate family member e.g., mother, father, grandmother, grandfather, brother, sister, or any relative living in the immediate household of the student (one day within the state, three days outside the state) 
• Jury duty
• Illness or medical treatment of a child of whom the student is the custodial parent 
• Justifiable Personal Reasons: When the pupil’s absence has been requested in writing by the parent and approved by the principal or designee

Any absence for any reason other than those stated above will be marked unexcused.

La meta del Distrito Escolar de Los Ángeles es para todos los estudiantes mantener un índice de 96% o más de asistencia Proficiente/Avanzada a lo largo del año escolar.

Contamos con que todos los estudiantes asistan a la escuela todos los días, excepto cuando tenga una excusa valida por su ausencia (EC 48260).  

Según el Código Educacional de California, los estudiantes pueden estar ausentes legalmente por las siguientes razones:

• Enfermedad 
• Cuarentena
• Cita con doctor, dentista, optometrista o quiropráctico 
• Funeral, muerte de un miembro familiar inmediato e.g., mama, papa, abuelo/a, hermano/a, o cualquier familiar que vive en la casa del estudiante (un día en el estado, tres días fuera del estado)
• Servicio de Jurado
• Enfermedad o tratamiento médico de un niño del cual el/la estudiante tiene la custodia
• Razones Personales Justificadas: Son cuando un permiso de ausencia del estudiante ha sido pedido por escrito por un padre y aprobado por el director o persona designada

Cualquier ausencia por otros motivos que no son mencionados arriba serán marcados sin excusa.
